Sergio Ramos discusses about relationship with Lionel Messi

Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Sergio Ramos has recently opened up about his relationship with his teammate Lionel Messi.

Hailing from the famous La Masia, Lionel Messi spent most part of his career with Spanish giants Barcelona. 

After his graduation from the Barcelona academy, Messi was promoted to the main team. He did not take much time to settle and soon established himself as one of the greatest players ever to play the game of football. Messi won everything possible with the Catalan giants and took them to the pinnacle of world football. 

At that time, it was thought that Lionel Messi will only retire in a Barcelona shirt. Things however did not turn out like this. Things however did not turn out like this. Despite, Barcelona’s on-field glory, they were hugely mismanaged for a big part of the last decade. As a result, the club went into a financial crisis and could not register the contract of Lionel Messi. Messi had to leave Barcelona.

After leaving Barcelona, the Argentine superstar joined Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal. In the same season, Spanish centre-back Sergio Ramos joined PSG from Real Madrid. 

This was a very unique situation. The two players who were the captains of the two giants teams of Spain, playing for the same team. And on top of that, it was Messi and Ramos.

Both of them shared a fierce rivalry while playing for Barcelona and Real Madrid. In many El Classico, we have seen going aggressively against each other. So normally there were questions about how both of them can form chemistry while playing for the PSG.

Ramos has finally come forward and explained,My relationship with Messi is excellent. There is great respect between the players and a healthy state of mind.”

“It is a privilege to have him on the team. It is much worse to have him against you, I suffered against him for many years,” added Ramos.

The Spanish centre-back also praised Lionel Messi for playing at the best level. He regarded the Argentine as one of the best in the world. The duo together won their debut Ligue 1 title in the last season. 

Now they have got a great start to their title defense. Paris Saint-Germain have won eleven out of their first thirteen matches. With thirty-five points they are currently at the top of the Ligue 1 table. 

PSG will now face Lorient in their next match.
