Tottenham Hotspur Board Is Ready to Invest More in Improving Squad in January

Tottenham Hotspur board has full trust in their manager Antonio Conte, and they will back him by spending in January. The Italian manager has complained a few times about the depth and strength of his squad.

Tottenham Hotspur has suffered two consecutive defeats to Manchester United and Newcastle after having a strong start. The manager pointed out the problem with his team in comparison to the title contenders. He spoke: “You see the title contenders in these periods when you play every three days because you need to have depth in your squad. A strong squad with great quality. We have only just started our process.”

He also hinted that he missed out on his preferred targets during the summer window. Conte wanted to secure an attacking player, a midfielder, and a defender to add to his squad. According to the Times, the Tottenham board is preparing to hand the 53-year-old additional funds this winter window.

Spurs brought in seven new players this summer but wanted to do more business to challenge at the highest level.

Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sell more of their fringe players like Bryan Gil and Japhet Tanganga. But no move happened for them in the end. They will attempt again to offload them this winter.

It is believed Djed Spence’s name will also be included with the previous two names. After arriving from Middlesbrough, Spence has not started a game for the North London club.

After signing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus this January, Conte wants to bring either Locatelli or Weston McKennie from his former club. Rumours say that Conte is a big admirer of USA international.

Reports suggest that the main priority is extending Kane’s contract. The England captain’s contract will expire in 2024, and many elite European clubs will try to snatch this opportunity. Kane is the main man in Tottenham Hotspur’s attack. Conte has built his team around his star man. Kane’s departure will be a disaster for the Spurs.

Dejan Kulusevski is also on a loan deal, and the Spurs need to make his move permanent. After arriving at Spurs, he has become an integral part of the squad. Tottenham has struggled every time without him in the starting eleven.

Kulusevski got injured during his international duty and has not recovered yet. Spurs’ game has also deteriorated after his absence. As they lost both Newcastle and Manchester games.

This summer’s arrival, Clement Lenglet, has impressed London fans with his brilliant performance. Whether his move will become permanent is still up in the air.

But the Tottenham Hotspur board will have to back Conte to compete at the highest level to retain the Champions League spot.
