Tottenham Hotspur News: Spurs’ elimination from UEFA Conference League sends shivers down the spine of some Arsenal fans

Tottenham Hotspur News: Spurs have not had the best of starts this season, and things have gone from bad to worse after they were eliminated from the UEFA Europa Conference League due to a ruling from UEFA.

A Covid-19 outbreak in the club made them postpone their final group game against Rennes. The fixture was doubly important for Spurs as a victory would send them into the knockout stages of the competition.

A replacement day wasn’t found and UEFA have decided to forfeit the match, resulting in a 3-0 defeat for Tottenham. The group stage exit has left Spurs fighting in only the domestic competitions.

While this should be good news for their direct rivals Arsenal fans, it has not turned out that way for some of them in reality. The fans have started to worry about the Top-4 race in the league, which both are fighting for this season.

Tottenham Hotspur news: Spurs will now have a much easier scheduling calender to deal with this season

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs will now be playing only one game a week, giving their players ample time to rest. In a gruelling season like this one, it is often things like this which matter most cometh April.

In covid-19 times, this is a huge boon for any club, given that players can test positive and be out for a considerable amount of time. Injuries have also plagued them recently and this scheduling will help Spurs in managing the workloads of their star players as well.

A certain section of fans do not want Tottenham Hotspur to spend much time in training, as they have a new master tactician at their helm in Antonio Conte. Antonio Conte has started to implement his style of play in recent weeks and it has shown on the pitch.

Tottenham’s performance in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool was a massive upgrade and fans have already spotted the Conte impact. The combination of Son and Kane fired after a long time and it has put Gunners’ fans under pressure.

Where do the two North London clubs currently sit in the Premier League table?

While Arsenal are still in front, the Gunners fans are wishing that Tottenham were still in the UEFA Conference League, just to simply tire them out by the end of the season.

The Gunners have just managed to enter the Top-4 spots on the back of a 4-1 victory against Leeds. They are in the fourth spot with 32 points from 18 matches, as Arteta’s tactics have paid off greatly.

On the other hand, Tottenham recently went through a Covid-19 outbreak which made them postpone three Premier League games. They have three matches in hand and occupy the seventh spot with 28 points from 15 games.

Arsenal will be up against Championship outfit Sunderland in the Carabao Cup on the 22nd of December. Their rivals Tottenham will play against West Ham on the 24th of December for a place in the semi-finals.
