Former England spinner Graeme Swann believes that if Virat Kohli was an English player, he would have asked others to let Kohli play his game and not put any kind of pressure on him.
According to him, the pressure has come on Kohli to score big now, due to which he has failed to show his best performance.
Former India batsman Ajay Jadeja has also echoed Swann’s point and said that no player could perform well under too much pressure. If the pressure on Kohli to score big is removed, he will automatically perform well. Just give them some time, and the result will be in front of you all.
Graeme Swann made a big statement about Virat Kohli
After the third T20 match, Swann said in a show on Sony Sports Network, “If Virat Kohli was an English player and I was in the English media, he would have said that we have to take all the pressure off him. If we put pressure on him, he will not be able to perform well anyway. He is our star player, and we have full faith in him that he will do well.”
The former England spinner said, “As a player, you never want people to put pressure on you. Fans job is to trust their players and let them play on their own time.”
Virat Kohli is an important player for his team, and you can put constant pressure on him if you don’t want to include him in your team.
We all know what a capable player Virat Kohli is. Right now, he is not in his rhythm, but I am sure he will soon put his best performance in front of the world. Jadeja also supported Swann and said, “I fully support him. Kohli is a very good batsman. Give them some time and let them play on their terms. I am sure he will soon return to his old rhythm.”
As a player, you would feel the pressure from the supporters, and supporters have a job, that you can make it easier or tougher for your players. Continue applying pressure to Virat Kohli if you want him to leave your team, but if you value him as an asset, then be gentle with him.
Ajay Jadeja Shares The Same Viewpoint
Ajay Jadeja, a former Indian batter, shared the same viewpoint and asserted that because everyone is aware of Kohli’s abilities, they should all let him alone.
“It goes with the territory because there are so many expectations, Virat Kohli, and we are so used to seeing him score runs and hundreds every game.
Swann is your asset. Thus you must let him be, in my opinion. Let him play; you already know what you’re getting, Ajay Jadeja stated on the Sony Sports Network.
Jadeja advised Kohli to stay longer because the Indian squad is still evaluating players, and things will go more smoothly for the former captain of India.
