Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has an FC Barcelona contract clause inserted in his current deal with the Premier League side, according to a report in Mundo Deportivo.
Bernardo Silva was heavily linked with a move away from Manchester City in the summer transfer window of 2023. Both FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were tipped as the potential destinations for the Portuguese attacker.
But Bernardo Silva eventually renewed his contract with Manchester City. He signed a one-year extension that will keep him at the Premier League champions until 2026. The new deal also sees an increase in his salary at the club.
That means, as things stand now, he has a little less than three years left on his current deal with Manchester City. But Mundo Deportivo reports that when he signed the new deal earlier this year, a release clause was also inserted into the contract.

Bernardo Silva has an FC Barcelona contract clause in his Manchester City contract, Mundo Deportivo reports
According to Mundo Deportivo, Bernardo Silva’s new contract with Manchester City has a release clause of £50m. While it is still a considerable amount, it is far less than what Manchester City valued Silva at in the summer transfer window.
That would also allow Barcelona to potentially sign Bernardo Silva for £50m. The Catalan outfit were interested in acquiring the services of the Portuguese international in the summer transfer window. However, the Catalan club could not sign him due to their financial situation.
Mundo Deportivo also reports that Dani Olmo also has a release clause in his contract with RB Leipzig. Like Bernardo Silva, he is also a player that Xavi likes. Olmo signed a contract extension with the German side in the summer. His current deal runs until 2027.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Dani Olmo has a release clause that is set at €60m, which is in the similar range of Bernardo Silva’s release clause.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have had a good start to the 23/24 campaign and the Catalan outfit sits third in the points table.
Xavi and Co. remain unbeaten four games into the new league season but dropped points in their opening match. They were held to a goalless draw by Getafe but have won all three games they have since played.
